BATON ROUGE — LSU outfielder David Raymer has been named the Louisiana Sports Writer Association Baseball Player-of-the-Week for his performance in the Tigers’ final regular-season series? against Auburn this past weekend.
Raymer, a junior from Apex, N.C., hit .636 at the plate (7-for-11) with a home run, six RBI and a 1.182 slugging percentage as the Tigers secured the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament that begins Wednesday in Hoover, Ala.
In the Tiger’s 20-5 win over Auburn, Raymer went 4-for-5 with four RBI to set career highs in both hits and RBI. He fell a double short of hitting for the cycle, smacking a three-run home run, a triple and a pair of singles.
Raymer, batting .336 with 23 RBIs for the Tigers, is batting .444 with nine RBIs in LSU’s last 10 games.
