BATON ROUGE — LSU senior golfer Katy Harris was named Wednesday by the Southeastern Conference office as the SEC Women’s Golfer of the Week for her performance last week in the Lady Gamecock Classic in Columbia, S.C.
Harris fired a three-round total of 3-over 219 on rounds of 73-72-74 to finish in a tie for the individual championship, forcing a playoff.
Harris lost the playoff on the first extra hole of sudden death. The runnerup finished equaled Harris’ best and was her first runner-up finish since her freshman campaign at LSU. It was the fourth time she had finished second in a tournament at LSU.
Harris, from South Bend, Ind., is presently ranked fifth in the SEC and10th in the nation in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf rankings, with a stroke average of 73.82 per round. She has had five top 10 finishes this year and 16 for her four-year career.
The Lady Tigers are next in action March 27-29 when they travel to Honolulu to participate in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Hawaiian Invitational Women’s Golf Tournament.
