BATON ROUGE — Six present and former members of the 12th-ranked LSU women’s golf team were named to the 2001 SEC Women’s Golf Academic Honor Roll announced by the league office.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year or for their career; be a sophomore or higher in academic classification; and, have 24 semester hours countable toward a degree. The 2001 SEC Women’s Golf Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 1999-2000 academic calendar.
A total of 53 student-athletes were named to this year’s women’s honor roll. Alabama and South Carolina had seven each on the roster, with LSU and Tennessee next with six each.
Those who represented LSU were Missy Ballew, Meredith Duncan, Katy Harris, Lesley McClurg and Erin Sarver. Also making it was former Tiger golfer Tina Howard.
It marks the second time that Duncan, a junior from Shreveport; Harris, a senior from South Bend, Ind.; and, McClurg, a senior from Redmond, Wash., have earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll.
The Tigers begin play on Friday in the Southeastern Conference Women’s Golf Championships at the University of Florida Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.
