Gymnastics Rotations Set for NCAA Championships

BATON ROUGE — For the third consecutive meet, the LSU gymnastics team has drawn the best possible rotation and will begin on vault and end on floor in the Preliminary Round’s afternoon session of the NCAA Gymnastics Championships on April 13 in Boise, Idaho.

LSU came back to beat Arizona State in the final rotation and finish second at the NCAA Region III Championships this past weekend in Tucson, Ariz. LSU also tied for second at the SEC Championships with the same rotation.

The Tigers are making their four-consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships. The format of the NCAA Gymnastics Championships consists of two six-team sessions with the top three scores in each advancing to the “Super Six” Finals to be held on Saturday, April 14.

LSU will be in the afternoon session of the championships along with SEC rivals Alabama and Georgia, as well as Oregon State, Utah and Brigham Young. The Tigers have beaten Alabama at home, tied Georgia at the SEC Championships and defeated Utah at home in 2000.

Should the Tigers advance to the Super Six, it would mark the first time since the NCAA began the two-round competition in 1993 that LSU has finished in the top six in the nation.
