BOISE, Idaho — Five LSU gymnasts have been named second team All-America by virtue of finishing in the top eight in individual competition during Thursday’s afternoon session of the NCAA Championships in Boise, Idaho.
Kim Descalopoulis, Shanyn MacEachern, Abbey Burns, Stacey Wegener and Beth Boudreaux all earned second team All-America honors.
Descalopoulis and MacEachern tied for eighth on the vault with identical 9.85s. The All-American honor is the first for Descalopoulis, who concluded her career Thursday afternoon, while it is the second such honor for MacEachern, a sophomore.
Abbey Burns concluded her career Thursday with the third All-American honor of her career, finishing seventh on bars with a 9.825.
Wegener and Boudreaux finished tied for seventh on the beam with identical 9.80s. It marks the second All-American honor for Wegener, a native of Marrero, La., who concluded her career Thursday and the first for Boudreaux, a sophomore from Dutchtown, La.
