ATHENS, Ga. — Michal Chmela and Tom Hand begin play in the NCAA men’s tennis individual tournament Wednesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex at the University of Georgia.
Hand, competing in his first NCAA singles tournament, has the task of facing Brian Vahaly of Virginia, who is seeded second in the tournament, in the first round at 11 a.m.
Chmela, competing for the fourth time in his career, faces Alex Waske of San Diego State in round one at 2:30 p.m.
Beginning Thursday Chmela and Dan Kiernan will compete in the doubles tournament. The duo is a No. 5-8 seed and will face Virginia Commonwealth’s team of Daniel Andersson and Frak Moser.
