BATON ROUGE — Pairing and times for the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Championship were announced Tuesday by the NCAA. The LSU women’s tennis team will play 10th-ranked Southern Cal at 10 a.m. CDT on Thursday in Malibu, Calif., and the LSU men’s tennis team will face Illinois at 7 a.m. CDT on Saturday in Athens, Ga.
The 32nd-ranked Lady Tigers (16-10) advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time since 1995 by upsetting seventh-ranked Pepperdine, the host school of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships, 5-4, Sunday in the second round. LSU defeated Iowa in the first round, 5-3.
The 11th-seeded Tigers (20-5) breezed through regional play in Baton Rouge, 4-0, over both Alcorn State and Clemson. LSU will be making its 16th trip to the Championships in the past 17 seasons.
