BATON ROUGE – LSU softball junior Stephanie Hastings was honored as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for her performance against SEC opponent Auburn.
“Steph is a phenomenal athlete and a great team leader,” said head coach Glenn Moore. “She has been consistent all year and was a big factor in a successful weekend.”
Hastings was instrumental for the Tigers as she went 3 for 3 and 2 for 2 at the plate over the weekend while helping her team take three of four from opponent Auburn.
She hit .700 on the weekend against Auburn with seven hits, five runs and three RBI. Hastings was also 2 for 2 in the stolen base category. At second base and behind the plate, she had seven putouts and six assists.
Overall for the Tigers, Hastings is hitting .375 with 21 runs, 33 hits, four doubles, one triple, one home run and 17 RBI. She has 67 putouts and 45 assists for a .966 fielding percent.
Hastings and the Tigers will face Southeastern Louisiana in a make-up game on Tuesday March 21 at 5 p.m.
