Tiger Softball Blows Out No. 4 Washington in Opener, 14-2

LSU Softball 8th in Latest Poll

BATON ROUGE — After finishing 3-2 in the Lead-Off Classic, the LSU softball team was ranked eighth in the lastest NFCA Top 25 Poll released Wednesday.

The Tigers (16-4) were eliminated by top-ranked Washington, 3-0, in the semifinal of the Gold Bracket at this past weekend’s tournament in Columbus, Ga.

However, LSU knocked off now fourth-ranked Arizona State (6-4) and No. 21 Hawai’i (8-3). LSU only other loss was to No. 13 Michigan, 3-0.

The Tigers return to action this weekend in Norman, Okla., in the University of Oklahoma Tournament against Wichita State at 4 p.m. Friday, Oklahoma at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Southern Miss at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Texas-San Antonio at 10 a.m. Sunday and Colorado State at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
