BATON ROUGE — Eight members of LSU’s Southeastern Conference championship softball team were named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll as announced Tuesday by the league office.
A total of 75 student-athletes were named to the list by SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must: 1) have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for her career; 2) be a sophomore or higher in terms of academic classification; and 3) have 24 semester hours toward a degree.
Tara Asbill, Stacey Newton, Taryn Perry and Julie Stashko are the four Tiger seniors honored. Three juniors have also been named to the honor roll: Stephanie Hastings, Jennifer Schuelke and Auburne Ziober. Britni Sneed is the LSU sophomore to receive this award.
This is the third consecutive year that Asbill and Newton have received this honor. Perry and Ziober were all members of the 1999 Honor Roll.
Stashko, Hastings, Schuelke and Sneed are each being named for the first time.
