BATON ROUGE — The No. 7 LSU Tiger softball team will play the Southwest Texas State Bobcats in a single game Thursday at Tiger Park beginning at 6 p.m.
“The girls have been working hard after the past weekend,” said head coach Glenn Moore. “I am pleased with their efforts and feel that we are ready to play our five games this weekend.”
The Tigers are 42-8 overall and 16-2 in the Southeastern Conference. The Bobcats are 31-17 overall and 14-7 in the Southland Conference prior to a Wednesday night game against Louisiana-Lafayette. LSU has never seen Southwest Texas in action.
LSU currently leads the SEC and is one game ahead of No. 10 Alabama who has an overall record of 49-8 and is 17-3 in the SEC. LSU and Alabama both lead the Western Division followed by Mississippi State, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Auburn. In the East Kentucky leads the pack followed by South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and Georgia.
LSU will host an important SEC series this weekend against Arkansas. Friday’s double header will begin at 6 p.m. with game one being televised on Fox Sports (Channel 26 in Baton Rouge). The weekend will conclude with a pair of games on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. All four games will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Network (107.3 FM in Baton Rouge) and www.LSUsports.net.
