Twenty Swimmers & Divers on SEC Honor Roll

BATON ROUGE — The LSU swimming and diving team placed 20 student athletes on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll this season which rewards SEC athletes for their outstanding accomplishments in the classroom as well as in competition.

Twelve Lady Tigers and 8 Tigers earned SEC Academic Honor Roll distinctions this year by maintaining at least a 3.0 grade point average during the previous two semesters.

Leading the way for the women’s team with a perfect 4.0 average were Shannon O’Neal, a Zoology major, and Carly Farrell, who is majoring in Psychology. The Tigers were led by Erik Petursson, who achieved a 3.818 grade point average in International Trade and Finance.

The Lady Tigers that were also recognized as Academic Honor Roll members were: Barbara Gorst (3.08, Management), Kelli Klein (3.23, Zoology), Melissa Knox (3.333, Kinesiology), Mandy Leach 3.107, Kinesiology), Ashley Marxen (3.444, Animal Science), Lindsey Mooney (3.405, Kinesiology), Gretchen Mury (3.909, Marketing), Ali Petersen (3.0, undecided), Cissy Schepens (3.152, Mass Comm.), and Holly Winters (3.936, Accounting).

On the men’s side, the Tigers that earned honor roll distinctions were: Kevin Ayer (3.333, Mechanical Engineering), Michael Fultz (3.0, Zoology), Jason Goltz (3.75, Economics), Jeff Maynor (3.728, Chemical Engineering), Matt Myers (3.411, Kinesiology), Stephen Naremore (3.098, Zoology), and Will Tanner (3.308, Civil Engineering.)
