Skupski’s Doubles Match Postponed at Wimbledon

WIMBLEDON, England — Former LSU tennis player Ken Skupski’s first round doubles match at the Wimbledon Championships was suspended after night fall hit Tuesday at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Skupski and Richard Bloomfield from the United Kingdom split the first two sets in their best of five sets contest against 13th-seeded Frantisek Cermak of the Czech Republic and Jordan Kerr of Australia. Skupski and Bloomfield lost the first set by a 6-4 score before retaliating with a 7-5 win in the second set. Bloomfield and Skupski fell behind 4-2 in the third set before night fall delayed the match until Wednesday morning.

Skupski will also take part in the mixed doubles portion of the championships with Naomi Cavady of the United Kingdom. The mixed doubles draw will be released next week.

Skupski is the second Tiger coached by Jeff Brown who has played at Wimbledon. Former Tiger Dan Kiernan played in the doubles tournament in 2004 and 2005 and reached the second round in 2005.
