BATON ROUGE — The 2007-08 editions of the LSU men and women’s golf media guides were named some of the best in the nation in their respective categories it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) in the organization’s yearly contest.
The men’s guide was voted the third best in the nation, while the women’s guide followed its 2007 finish with a fourth place finish in that category.
The 48-page men’s guide was written and edited by then sports information graduate assistant Will Stafford and designed by student assistant Ashley Durand while the women’s guide was written and edited by Senior Associate Sports Information Director Kent Lowe with the guide designed by Graphics Coordinator Krystal Bennett. The pictures in the guides were shot by staff photographer Steve Franz.
“It is our goal for LSU golf to be the best it can be both on and off the course, and that includes the outstanding work of our sports information and publications departments,” said LSU head coach Chuck Winstead. “They work very hard in creating the kind of brand that shows just what our program is all about, and I think the media guides that we produce are a great representation of that.”
“We are very proud that our women’s golf media guide finished fourth in the nation,” said LSU women’s head coach Karen Bahnsen. “The guide was a great tool in helping us secure a Top-5 nationally ranked recruiting class for the 2008-09 season. It showcased in a first class way all that LSU has to offer potential recruits while being informative to our fans.”
The guides serve as a comprehensive source of up-to-date information on the 2007-08 team, including bios, records and history concerning the length of the entire program. Media guides serve as a source of information to media outlets and fellow sports information offices, as well as a valuable recruiting tool for coaches.
The judging is based on eight categories including team information, season in review, program history, general information, conference information, graphics and design and editorial. The guides are critiqued by three pre-selected judges from outside organizations.
CoSIDA is an organization that is designed to help SID’s at all levels. The purpose of the organization is to empower its members in their roles as sports information professionals.
