BATON ROUGE — After collecting the program’s fourth straight 30-plus win season and advancing to a fifth straight NCAA Final Four, the LSU women’s basketball team ended the season ranked fourth in the nation by the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA poll.
LSU (31-6) defeated Jackson State, Marist, Oklahoma State and North Carolina on the way to the Final Four in Tampa.
The top five final ranking by the coaches is the sixth in as many seasons for the Lady Tigers and the third straight season LSU has been tabbed No. 4 in the final coaches poll.
Tennessee, the NCAA Tournament champion, was the unanimous No. 1 by the voters, while Stanford was second followed by Connecticut. North Carolina fell in behind LSU at No. 5 and Rutgers, Maryland, Texas A&M, Duke and Old Dominion closed out the top 10.
LSU finished the season ranked sixth in the final Associated Press poll that was release before the NCAA Tournament began.
