Lady Tigers to Meet Tennessee in Women’s Final Four

TAMPA, Fla. — LSU’s women’s basketball team is back in a familiar place and will face a very familiar foe.

The Lady Tigers (31-5), in the program’s fifth straight NCAA Final Four, will face Southeastern Conference rival Tennessee (34-2) at 8:30 p.m. CDT on Sunday in the second National Semifinal game at the St. Pete Times Forum.

LSU came back from an early 19-point deficit to defeat Tennessee in Knoxville on Feb. 14, 78-62. Tennessee hasn’t lost since, winning their past 12 games including a 61-55 win over the Lady Tigers in the SEC Tournament Championship on March 9 in Nashville.

LSU won the New Orleans Regional with wins over Oklahoma State and North Carolina, while Tennessee (34-2), the defending national champions, claimed the Oklahoma City Regional with wins over Notre Dame and Texas A&M.

The first national semifinal will pit Connecticut, the Greensboro Regional winner, against Stanford, the winner of the Spokane Regional, at 6 p.m. CDT on Sunday.

The two winners will play for the 2008 National Championship on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. CDT.

All three games of the Final Four will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN HD and any game LSU participates in will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network (107.3 FM in Baton Rouge).
