Women’s Tennis Opens ITA Kick-Off With 4-0 Victory

Tallahassee, Fla. – The LSU women’s tennis team clinched the win against Clemson 4-0, in the opening round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kick-Off in the Tallahassee regional.

With the victory, LSU improves their record to 2-0 and gave Clemson its first loss of the 2019 season.

Co-Head Coach Julia Sell on the Match

“Clemson is a very strong team in doubles and singles so to have such a strong quick start today really set the tone. After that we did a tremendous job controlling the momentum,” said co-head coach Julia Sell. “Not sure who we play yet tomorrow but we will have another tough opponent and great opportunity.”

Doubles Point

The No. 30-ranked pair of sophomore Taylor Bridges and junior Paris Corley finished their contest with a 6-2 win against Sydney Riley and Tate Schroeder, on court two.

On court one, the No. 9-ranked duo of senior Jessica Golovin and Eden Richardson secured the doubles point for the Tigers with a 6-3 victory over the No. 3-ranked combination of Marie Leduc and Fernanda Navarro.
