BATON ROUGE — For the second consecutive week an LSU Tiger has garnered state men’s college basketball Player-of-the-Week honors from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Freshman forward Naz Reid was the leading vote getter among the four nominees for the week of Dec. 24-30. Reid’s teammate Tremont Waters was the Player-of-the-Week for the week of Dec. 17-23.
In LSU’s 81-69 win over ULM (Dec. 28), Reid scored 19 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to register his first collegiate double-double. He recorded season highs in rebounds (12) and in blocked shots (4). Reid’s 19 points was his second highest scoring game of the year, and it was his second consecutive game in double figures in rebounds (10 vs. Furman, 12 vs. ULM).
In his last three games combined, the freshman from Asbury Park, N.J., has scored 42 points and hauled down 27 rebounds. Reid is averaging 12.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game, while shooting 50 percent from the floor (62-124) with 11 three-pointers.
