BATON ROUGE – Two more wins last week for the LSU basketball team allowed the Tigers to move up to No. 19 in the latest Associated Press media college basketball poll announced on Monday.
LSU is now 4-0 and heading to a first round game with Charleston at 6 p.m. CT Thursday at the HP Field House at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex as part of the annual AdvoCare Invitational.
The Tigers are ranked for the 201st poll all-time and it is the highest ranking for LSU since they were ranked No. 12 in the 16th poll of the 2008-09 season.
The first in-season USA Today Coaches Poll also came out and LSU is ranked 21 in that Top 25.
LSU defeated Memphis (85-76) and Louisiana Tech (74-67) in games this past week. The Tigers will play on Thanksgiving night, Friday and Sunday in the AdvoCare event before returning to Baton Rouge.
Thursday’s game will be televised by ESPNU and broadcast on the affiliates of the LSU Sports Radio Network.
