Baton Rouge, La. – For the second week in a row, Caroline Brockmeier has been recognized by Top Drawer Soccer as the premier goalkeeper in the nation. Brockmeier was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week on Tuesday morning.

Brockmeier, a redshirt senior, came up clutch when the Tigers needed it the most in their NCAA Tournament first round matchup with Boston University on Sunday. With the Tigers trailing 1-0 after the first round of penalties, Brockmeier saved the final four attempts of the Terriers to allow Abbey Newton and Lucy Parker to seal the deal with scores in the fourth and fifth rounds to help LSU advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 2-1 advantage in penalties.

Not only did Brockmeier stand out in penalties, but she made seven saves in 110 minutes of play to record the 24th shutout of her career, the second most in school history. Brockmeier was tested twice in the first half and five times in the second stanza. Her final save of the match, a shot off the foot of Boston University’s Chelsea Churchill in the 72nd minute, was the 284th of her career. The 284 career saves are the tied for the most in school history alongside Megan Kinneman, her current goalkeeper coach.
