BATON ROUGE – The Southeastern Conference office announced Monday that the LSU gymnastics team has earned the top seed for the 2018 meet held on Saturday, March 24 at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri.

The seeding is based on the final regular season Regional Qualifying Score (RQS). The Tigers earned the top spot with an RQS of 197.890. Also in the second session with LSU are No. 2 Florida, No. 3 Alabama and No. 4 Kentucky. Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia and Missouri all earned spots for the first session.

LSU will rotate based on a home meet beginning with vault and follow with bars, beam and floor.

The Tigers are the defending Southeastern Conference meet champions. The 2017 squad captured the meet title for the first time since 1981 with a score of 198.075. Three LSU gymnasts combined to take home five event titles a year ago.

Twenty-one LSU gymnasts have combined to win 39 SEC titles since 1981. A total of 77 All-SEC honors have been earned over the years and 10 SEC All-Freshman honors have gone to LSU gymnasts since 2009.

LSU’s session of the meet will be televised live on ESPN2. Bart Conner, Kathy Johnson Clarke and Laura Rutledge will have the call for the championship.
