Women’s Tennis to Host No. 33 Razorbacks

BATON ROUGE – The No. 43 LSU women’s tennis team will host the No. 33 Arkansas Razorbacks as SEC play continues at the LSU Tennis Complex Thursday at 4 p.m. CT.

After dropping their first two conference road matches to a pair of top-25 teams in Florida and South Carolina last week, the Tigers (10-4; 1-3 SEC) will return home where they boast a 9-1 record on the season. The Razorbacks (5-7, 1-2 SEC) own a 2-1 record on the road and have dropped their past two SEC matches to Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

LSU holds a 20-19 all-time advantage over Arkansas, with its most recent win coming in a 5-2 home victory in the 2016 season. Jessica Golovin and Ryann Foster picked up a pair of wins on courts two and three, respectively, in that match.

Freshman Eden Richardson leads the team with 21 total singles victories on the season and is tied with No. 67 Golovin for the team lead with 11 dual season singles wins. Richardson and Golovin have been on an absolute tear in doubles play recently, taking down two different top-15 pairings in conference play so far.

Arkansas currently rosters two ranked singles players in sophomore No. 66 Giulia Pairone and junior No. 87 Ana Oparenovic. The Razorbacks’ court one doubles pairing of Oparenovic and Tatum Rice, ranked No. 30 in the country, is projected to square off against the No. 50-ranked duo of Richardson and Golovin. Michael Hegarty coaches the Razorbacks in his 15th season with the team.
