COLLEGE STATION, Texas – LSU senior Aleia Hobbs set a collegiate record to win the women’s 60 meter dash at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Her time of 7.07 seconds also set a facility record at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas and is the sixth-fastest time in the world this season.
The LSU women placed 1-2-7-8 in the 60 meters to provide the bulk of the scoring as the Lady Tigers finished sixth in the team standings with 29 points. Mikiah Brisco was the national runner-up in the race with a time of 7.11 seconds. Kortnei Johnson placed seventh in 7.26 seconds, followed by Cassondra Hall in 7.32 seconds.
Johnson earned her second First Team All-America honor in the women’s 200 meter race with a fifth-place time of 22.90.
Jaron Flournoy earned fourth place in the men’s 200 meter race, tying his personal-best that he set yesterday of 20.55 seconds.
Tonea Marshall ran 8.17 seconds in the women’s 60-meter hurdles for seventh place, while Damion Thomas placed eighth in the men’s race with a time of 8.25 seconds.
JuVaughn Blake finished his first trip to the NCAA Championships with a height of 6′ 10.75” (2.10m) to place 14th. He earned Second Team All-America honors in both of his events.
In the last events of the evening, the LSU men’s 4×400 relay team of Correion Mosby, Jaron Flournoy, Renard Howell and Jahnoy Thompson placed sixth with a time of 3:05.31. The women’s squad of Rachel Misher, Cassondra Hall, Zakiya Denoon and Kymber Payne finished seventh in 3:31.89.

The LSU outdoor track & field season will get underway next week with the squad travelling down I-10 to Lafayette for the Louisiana Classics on Friday and Saturday, March 16-17.
