BATON ROUGE – The annual LSU Track & Field Team Awards and Alumni Recognition Banquet is set for Friday, April 20, at the Renaissance Hotel on Bluebonnet Boulevard in Baton Rouge. The banquet will be the lead-in event to the annual LSU Alumni Gold meet, scheduled for Saturday, April 21.
Now entering its eighth year, the LSU Track & Field Team Awards and Alumni Recognition Banquet is a true celebration of the rich history and tradition of the NCAA’s most storied combined track and field program as the Tigers and Lady Tigers welcome their decorated alumni back to Baton Rouge for Alumni Weekend festivities.
This year’s banquet will be no exception as the program will recognize the 2008 NCAA Women’s Championship Team. Reunions are also planned for athletes from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s as well as those that played football and competed in track & field at LSU.
The LSU Track & Field Team Awards portion of the banquet will honor the current Tigers and Lady Tigers for their outstanding performances during the 2017 cross country, indoor and outdoor seasons, highlighted by the announcements of the Most Outstanding Female Performer Award and Glenn “Slats” Hardin Award winners.
All LSU track & field alumni and fans are invited to attend the banquet on Friday evening. Dinner and the program begin at 7:30 p.m., preceded by a pre-banquet social at 6:30 p.m. An Alumni-Only social is set for after the banquet at 9:30 p.m.
March 30 is the deadline to RSVP for the banquet. Reservations for the banquet can be made by clicking HERE. A room block at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel is also available for alumni looking to make a hotel reservation for Alumni Weekend. Accommodations can be reserved at this location.
The banquet debuted in 2010 with the goal of honoring the current members of the LSU Track & Field program for their achievements in competition, in the classroom and in the community, as well as recognize alumni who have laid the foundation of success that is enjoyed by the program to this day as the Tigers and Lady Tigers compete in the 2018 season.
