BATON ROUGE – Jason Shaw, associate director of academic affairs for LSU’s Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes has been selected to the 2018 leadership program, LEAD LSU.
LEAD LSU is a leadership development program for high performing and emerging leaders at the University. Participants are nominated by their supervisors or members of the administration and chosen by a selection committee through careful analysis of nomination essay questions.
“I’m honored to be selected and excited to participate in LEAD LSU,” Shaw said. “I would like to thank my supervisors and the selection committee for giving me this wonderful opportunity. I know that my leadership and supervisory skills will be enhanced by our expert facilitators as well as the amazing cohort group that I will have the privilege to share the experience with.”
An experienced member of the staff with more than nine years on campus, Shaw serves as an academic advisor and advocate for the football team. During his time in Baton Rouge, Shaw has helped oversee the Project Graduation Program, which provides assistance to former student-athletes who have returned to work on earning their degree. He has also been a member of the planning committee chair of the annual Academic Center for Student-Athletes Drive-In Conference

Shaw joins network of more than 300 LEAD participants over the years. The program is intended to provide a comprehensive view of the participant’s personal preference and style, expose participants to new concepts regarding leadership and management, assist participants in creating a personal development plan, foster continued development after the program, and build relationships across University departments.”

The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is a 54,000 square foot facility comprised of academic affairs, student affairs and an information technology teams, serving more than 530 student-athletes. The purpose is to provide an all-inclusive, student-centered support structure for all student-athletes from matriculation, through graduation and life beyond.
