BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU rookie JuVaughn Blake was named the SEC Men’s Track & Field Freshman of the Week award as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.
Blake set a personal-best to finish as the top collegian in the high jump with a mark of 7′ 3.25” at the Tyson Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Huntsville, Alabama, native now ranks third on the LSU all-time list. His jump in Fayetteville is the eighth-best height of the season in the NCAA and is the second-best by a freshman.
The No. 6 Lady Tigers and Tigers host the LSU Twilight on Friday, Feb. 16, at Carl Maddox Field House. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. with the men’s weight throw. Running events will start at 3:30 p.m.
