Hobbs Named SEC Women’s Runner of the Week

BATON ROUGE, LA. – For the second time in as many weeks, the No. 9-ranked LSU women’s track & field team has captured another conference runner of the week as senior Aleia Hobbs earned the honor for the fourth time in her career.

The three-time All-American notched a personal-best last week, winning the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.14 seconds at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa on Saturday evening. This puts Hobbs at the No. 1 60-meter time in the nation, according to TFRRS, a rank previously held by teammate Mikiah Brisco at 7.17.

Hobbs was named the Women’s Athlete of the Meet for her efforts, and she led the Lady Tigers to the team title with 114 points as well. The time also places Hobbs No. 2 on LSU’s all-time list for the event. As the NCAA Women’s qualifying times sit on January 23, the Lady Tigers currently hold the top-three 60-meter times in the nation.

Hobbs will look to continue the successful start to her senior campaign as the Tigers and Lady Tigers travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to compete in the Razorback Invitational spanning two days from January 26-27.
