“The guys are ready and excited to play the first match of the season,” co-head coach Chris Brandi said. “You can just see it in practice. They are antsy to get out there and start competing.”

The Matchup

Friday’s 11 a.m. CT match against Arkansas-Pine Bluff marks the first meeting in school history between the teams.

Tiger Tidbits

The Tigers had a successful fall season with junior Nikola Samardzic and Rafael Wagner leading the way with seven wins apiece on the singles court.

Last season, Samardzic led the team in singles victories with 24 wins, and Wagner was third among the Tigers with 15 wins on the singles court.

Duo Julian Saborio and Gabor Csonka are set to make a return to the doubles court. The tandem finished the 2017 season ranked No. 80 in ITA Doubles and tied for a team-best 15 wins.

Junior transfer Shane Monroe will make his season debut for the Tigers after having to sit out due to NCAA transfer rules.
