BATON ROUGE- There is only one day until the start of the 2018 LSU men’s tennis season and only one member of the team left to introduce, senior Gabor Csonka.
The Tigers play host to Arkansas- Pine Bluff on Jan. 19 and Jan. 20 with matches at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.
Get to Know the Senior- Gabor Csonka
The lone senior finished his junior campaign with 11 singles victories, all coming from courts two through five. The Hungary native finished the season ranked No. 80 in the ITA Doubles after combining to earn 16 overall wins, including four in SEC play.
As a sophomore, Csonka was named to the 2016 LSWA All-Louisiana Second Team after nothing a 22-11 over all singles record and recorded a 13-8 record on the doubles court.
In the fall, Csonka recorded four wins and reached the semifinals of the Commodore Scramble with a straight-set, 6-4, 7-5, win against Lipscomb’s Alejandro Manzanares.
“As a senior, Gabor is the team leader,” co-head coach Andy Brandi said. “He could have a banner year if he adjusts his game style. He is a great competitor to have for the Tigers.”
