BATON ROUGE – For the second-straight week an LSU gymnast has been named the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week as senior Myia Hambrick earned the honor for the sixth time in her career, the league office announced Tuesday.
Hambrick took home the all-around title on Friday night with a score of 39.550 to lead the Tigers to a win over No. 7 Florida in Gainesville. The all-around score for Hambrick was the best in the conference during the second week of competition.
The Temple, Georgia, native matched her career high on floor as the anchor with a score of 9.95. Hambrick also put up a score of 9.90 in the second spot of both vault and beam.
As a team, the Tigers defeated the Gators for the fourth-straight regular season meet with a score of 197.250. LSU hosts No. 9 Alabama inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
