Inaugural event includes 5k, 10k and kid’s mile races finishing at 50 yard line of Tiger Stadium

The count down to the inaugural Tiger10K is on and the courses have been finalized.

The start line for the 10K and 5K course will be on South Stadium Dr. in the shadows of LSU Stadium’s new South end zone addition. Runners will be corralled according to expected finish times with the fastest runners in the front and walkers in the back. Both the 5K and 10K races will start at 8 a.m. in a wave start fashion.150-200 runners will be allowed to start approximately every 30 seconds.

10K Runners will proceed East on South Stadium Dr. and leave campus on West Lakeshore Dr. with University Lake on their left. After turning North on Stanford Ave., runners will pass Baton Rouge Beach for the first time on the way out and turn left onto Hyacinth Ave. This is a beautiful section of town with many wonderful oak trees and scenic views of the lake and LSU Campus across it. A quick loop around East Lakeshore Dr. from Hyacinth Ave will put runners back running South on Stanford Ave. A right turn onto South Lakeshore Dr. gives more views of the lakes and some stunning southern home fronts before passing Baton Rouge Beach a second time and turning West on West Lakeshore Dr.

10K Runners will rejoin the 5K course at West Lakeshore Dr. and East Parker Ave. and proceed around “Sorority Row”. The remaining portion of the course will be divided by cones to keep 5K runners and 10K runners in separate lanes. Runners will see Dalrymple Dr., the LSU Law Center, the Student Union and Parade Grounds, the Bell Tower, Campus Quad and the Indian Mounds on their way to Victory Hill. Once runners turn onto North Stadium Rd. they will be running down the same Victory Hill that the LSU Football team walks down with the Golden Band from Tiger Land. A quick left turn onto Powerhouse Lane and runners will be making their way into the Southeast Gate and onto Tiger Field. The finish line awaits at the 50 Yard line and the North end zone scoreboard will be showing video of you cross the finish line and slapping the WIN bar!

Like the 10K and 5k, the kids 1 mile run will start at corner of S. Stadium Drive and South Campus. Runners will run take a left turn onto Tower Drive, then turn left on South Campus Drive, veer right onto fieldhouse, and then head down north stadium towards the stadium for their stadium finish on the 50 yard line.
