Women’s Tennis to End Home Stand Against Aggies

BATON ROUGE — The No. 16 LSU women’s tennis team will end their three-match SEC home stand against the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies at the LSU Tennis Complex Saturday.

The Tigers (11-4; 4-2 SEC) are in the midst of a three-match win streak and have won four of their last five.

Texas A&M (10-8; 2-4 SEC) has gotten off to a slow start in conference play but maintain a strong No. 20 national ranking.

LSU’s win leader Jessica Golovin is currently on a four-match win streak and boasts an impressive 12-3 dual singles record, followed by No. 30 Jade Lewis with 11 wins and No. 105 Ryann Foster with ten.

Lewis clinched her second-straight match for the Tigers Sunday against No. 5 Auburn for the highest-ranked win in program history and earned a career-high ranking of No. 30 in singles.

The No. 20 doubles pairing of Joana Valle Costa and Foster is LSU’s highest-ranked pairing since the 2008-09 season.

The Aggies have two players ranked in singles in No. 39 Rachel Pierson and No. 91 Rutuja Bhosale the pairing of Pierson and Bhosale is ranked 12th nationally in doubles.

The Texas A&M Aggies are coached by Mark Weaver in his second season with the team.
