BATON ROUGE — After earning two huge SEC wins this weekend, the LSU women’s tennis team jumped 11 spots to No. 16 in the latest Oracle/ITA Division I Collegiate Rankings released Tuesday.
After defeating the No. 44 Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday and clinching the highest ranked win in program history over No. 5 Auburn on Sunday, LSU (11-4; 4-2 SEC) climbed to the No. 16 ranking, its highest mark of the season.
The Tigers also placed three players in individual rankings as well as one doubles pairing.
Freshman Jade Lewis jumped nine spots to No. 30 thanks to wins over No. 59 Erin Routliffe and No. 29 Alizee Michaud on court one.
Senior Joana Valle Costa jumped 30 spots to No. 86 after splitting her weekend series 1-1 but getting a huge win Sunday against No. 71 Andie Dikosavljevic.
Junior Ryann Foster rounds out the singles rankings for the Tigers at No. 105 and joins partner Joana Valle Costa as the No. 20 doubles pairing.
Valle Costa and Foster jumped 22 spots to No. 20 after defeating No. 25 Routliffe/Pothoff of Alabama and No. 8 Michaud/Russo of Auburn.
All 14 SEC schools are ranked in the top-50 for the second week in a row, and LSU is off to a strong 4-2 start in conference play.
The Tigers face off against the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies Saturday, March 25 at the LSU Tennis Complex at 11 a.m.
