BATON ROUGE – Following a pair of career highs and the second-highest all-around score of her career, senior Ashleigh Gnat has been named the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Gnat, a two-time SEC Specialist of the Week already this season, totaled a 39.700 all-around score on Friday night against New Hampshire in her final performance ever in the Maravich Center. Gnat anchored bars with a new career-high score of 9.90 and also tied her career high on beam with a 9.95.
The Lake Mary, Florida native anchored all four events and won four of five titles to push the total to 57 for her career. For the season, Gnat owns nine floor titles, which is one shy of the school record.
On LSU’s all-time career list of individual titles, Gnat ranks No. 5 on floor with 20 titles, No. 8 on vault with 21 titles and No. 8 on beam with 11 titles.
Gnat ranks No. 1 in the nation on vault with an RQS of 9.955. The anchor on vault is the only gymnast in the country with two perfect 10.0 scores on the event. Gnat also ranks No. 3 on floor and No. 11 on beam with an RQS of 9.950 and 9.910 respectively.
The second-ranked LSU gymnastics team returns to Gnat’s home state of Florida to compete in the 2017 SEC Championship on Saturday. The Tigers will compete in the second session as the top seed at 5 p.m. CT. The meet will be televised live from Jacksonville on the SEC Network
