Women’s Tennis Continues Road Trip at Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The No. 29 LSU women’s tennis team will take the next step in its SEC road trip against the Missouri Tigers at the Mizzou Tennis Complex Sunday at 10 a.m. CT.

The Tigers (8-4; 1-2 SEC) are coming off the heels of a closely-contested 5-2 loss to the No. 18 Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville, and will try to rebound against Missouri (10-3; 1-1 SEC).

Co-head coach Julia Sell wants her Tiger squad to remain focused despite the setback against Arkansas as they prepare to face off in Columbia.

“We have to recover from this and get ready for a very good Missouri team,” said Sell.

Junior Jessica Golovin picked up her ninth dual win of the season against the Razorbacks and is now tied with No. 83 Foster for the most singles wins on the team this spring.

Freshman No. 39 Jade Lewis suffered the first loss of her collegiate career against No. 64 Shannon Hudson, but still boasts an impressive 8-1 dual singles record with four wins over ranked opponents on court one.

Missouri is coached by Colt Gaston in his first season as head coach after being promoted from the assistant coaching position last season. Gaston was a four-year letter winner with the LSU men’s tennis program from 2004-08.
