BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU baseball team will face Louisiana College at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. The game was scheduled to replace the LSU-San Diego contest that was rained out earlier this week.
Fans may use their Game #9 LSU-San Diego tickets in order to be admitted to Tuesday’s LSU-Louisiana College game.
“It’s very difficult after a rainout to find an opponent that also has an opening within the 56-game schedule limit,” said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “Louisiana College had an opening on Tuesday, which is when we needed to play in order to avoid having two midweek games after we begin our conference schedule.
“We feel it’s important to our season-ticket holders that we try to play a full home schedule, and this game will also help our team, particularly our pitching staff, to prepare for next weekend’s SEC opener against Georgia. Louisiana College has a very good club and a strong competitive history with LSU, so we’re looking forward to a great game, and we’re glad another Louisiana school has the opportunity to experience a game in Alex Box Stadium.”
LSU and Louisiana College have met 22 times since 1914, most recently in 2012, when the Tigers posted a 10-2 win over the Wildcats.
Over the past few decades, LSU and Louisiana College have engaged in some tightly contested games, including a 7-5 Wildcat victory over the Tigers in 1994 and a narrow 2-1 LSU win in 1991.
