BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team climbed to the No. 29 spot in the ITA/Oracle Division I Collegiate Rankings released Wednesday.
With an impressive win over No. 19 South Carolina, the Tigers (8-3; 1-1 SEC) moved up eight spots from No. 37 to re-enter the top 30 for the second time this season.
LSU is one of 11 schools in the deeply competitive SEC to claim a spot in the top 30.
Freshman Jade Lewis jumped 13 spots to No. 39 in the singles rankings, while junior Ryann Foster jumped 12 spots to No. 83.
Lewis picked up her fourth win over a ranked opponent against South Carolina against No. 58 Mia Horvit, improving to 8-0 on the season while Foster defeated her third ranked opponent against South Carolina to improve to 20-5 overall.
Senior Joana Valle Costa is the third ranked member of the women’s tennis team, coming in at No. 116.
Valle Costa is 8-2 this season in both singles and doubles, partnering with Foster to form LSU’s court one pairing listed at No. 42 in the latest doubles rankings.
The Tigers return to action Friday night in Fayetteville to take on the No. 18 Arkansas Razorbacks before heading to Columbia to face the Missouri Tigers Sunday.
