Poche’ Again Earns National Honor

BATON ROUGE, La. – For the second straight week, LSU senior left-hander Jared Poche’ was named on Monday as one of the Collegiate Baseball National Players of the Week.

Poche’, a native of Lutcher, La., nearly fired a no-hitter for the second consecutive weekend, as he tossed eight hitless innings against Maryland on Saturday. The Terrapins broke up the no-hit bid with an infield single to lead off the ninth inning, and Poche’ exited the game after throwing 98 pitches.

Poche’ improved to 2-0 with the win over Maryland, limiting the Terps to no runs on one hit in eight innings with two walks and six strikeouts.

Poche’ also received the National Player of the Week honor last week after firing the sixth individual no-hitter in LSU history on February 18, as he recorded a seven-inning gem against Army in the second game of a doubleheader.

In his two starts this season, Poche’ has worked 15 innings, allowing no runs on one hit with two walks, 10 strikeouts and a .021 opponent batting average
