BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU beach volleyball team enters the preseason at No. 10 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll for the upcoming 2017 season, tying its highest ranking in school history.
LSU is coming off of a program-best 20-9 season and will enter the preseason ranked for just the second time in school history after starting last season at No. 19 in the polls.
The Lady Tigers have increased their win total each of the past three seasons and will bring back eight starters and three starting pairs, as well as eight players with 16 or more wins.
Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Co-Freshman of the Year Lilly Kessler returns after leading the team in wins last season, as well as sophomore Ashley Allmer, who was also selected to the CCSA All-Freshmen team.
The Lady Tigers will enter the season squaring off against five top-10 opponents in the first seven matches. Overall, LSU faces nine ranked teams, including eight in the top-10 and three in the top-five.
The Lady Tigers will open up the season against No. 2 Florida State in the Stetson Invitational in DeLand, Florida next Saturday at 8 a.m. CT.
