Landry Named SEC Player of the Week

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU senior outfielder Bailey Landry was named the SEC Player of the Week the league announced Monday morning.

LSU improved to 9-1 on the year after defeating Louisiana Tech last Wednesday and sweeping all four games of the Purple & Gold Challenge over the weekend, pushing the team’s winning streak to eight-straight. Even with a postponement that meant the team would play two games on Saturday and Sunday, the Tigers defeated Georgia Southern and Central Arkansas in consecutive games on Saturday and Sunday.

Landry had a career week as the Prairieville, Louisiana, native led the team at the plate hitting .813 with a 1.375 slugging percentage, .778 on-base percentage and 10 RBIs. She had multiple hits in four of the five games on the week, including hitting two doubles, two triples and a home run to finish the week 13-for-16 with seven runs scored.

At one point on the weekend, Landry reached base safely in eight consecutive plate appearances, including having at least a hit in six straight at-bats. She finished a single short of the cycle against Georgia Southern hitting a triple first, then a double and then a three-run home run, driving in four RBIs in back-to-back games.

LSU will be back in action this weekend, hitting the road for the first time to participate in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in California.
