BATON ROUGE, La. – The opening game of the 2017 Purple & Gold Challenge featuring the Georgia Southern Eagles and the No. 7 LSU softball team Friday evening was postponed due to rain and will be made up Sunday.
Rain forced the original 6 p.m. start of the contest between the Eagles and Tigers to be pushed back as officials monitored the weather situation throughout the evening. Game officials met with both coaches a little more than an hour after the game was originally scheduled to start and made the decision to postpone the game and move it to Sunday.
Saturday’s schedule of events will remain unchanged, as Sunday’s action will now begin at 9:30 a.m. CT with Georgia Southern and Central Arkansas opening the final day of the tournament. LSU will then play GSU at 12 p.m. at Tiger Park to make up Friday’s game, before closing out the event with a game against UCA at 2:30 p.m.
The amended and updated schedule can now be found on the Purple & Gold Challenge tournament page at the brand-new LSUsports.net.
