Four Swimmers To Compete in Championship Finals

UPDATE: Four swimmers qualified for the championship final in the 200 fly, 100 back and 100 breaststroke on day four of the SEC Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.

In the 200 fly prelims, Kara Kopcso garnered fourth overall at 1:56.86 to advance to the ‘A’ final. Logan Rysemus and Karl Luht qualified for the championships in the 100 back with times of 46.27 and 46.38 respectively for fourth and fifth place. Luht also jumped to third on LSU’s all-time list after posting his fastest time in the event.

In the 100 breaststroke, Colleen O’Neil tallied a time of 1:00.66 to grab the final spot in the ‘A’ final.

On the women’s side, Gabrielle Pick (1:59.34) and Sophie Weber (1:59.79) received invites to the ‘C’ final in the 200 fly. In the 100 back prelims, Kate Zimmer swam to a personal best, clocking at 54.05 to improve to fifth on LSU’s all-time list heading into the ‘C’ final.

Summer Spradley took 12th and Olivia Paskulin followed at 15th overall in the 100 breaststroke prelims, touching the wall at 1:01.52 and 1:01.93 respectively to make the ‘B’ final.

For the men, Harrison Jones (1:44.56) and Brandon Goldman (1:44.89) both qualified for the bonus round of the 200 fly. Jake Markham also logged a personal-best swim of 1:45.19 to head to the consolation final, taking fifth on LSU’s all-time list in the event.

In the 100 breaststroke prelims, Silas Dejean placed 11th, retaining his spot at second on LSU’s all-time list with a finish of 53.14. Garrett House also made the cut for the consolation final with a time of 54.61.

Two other swimmers collected personal bests in their respective events. Nicole Rozier finished with a time of 2:01.24 in the 200 fly prelims to earn her fastest time. Makenna Wilson also swam to the eighth fastest time in school history in the 100 back at 54.54.

In the prelims for women’s platform, all three divers compiled career-highs. Lizzie Cui finished in 13th with a score of 257.70. Rileigh Knox followed in 15th, diving to a score of 242.15. Makayla Robillard took 27th with a score of 212.55.

Finals for the 200 fly, 100 back, 100 breaststroke, and 400 medley relay will start at 6 p.m. ET.
