BATON ROUGE— The LSU men’s tennis team fell 5-2 against North Florida Friday evening at the LSU Tennis Complex.
With the loss the LSU men’s tennis team falls to 1-4 on the season while North Florida improves to 3-3.
Coach Brown on the Match
“It was not a great doubles point for us,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “We are still trying to get that point to the level that we are capable of playing it. Tonight, it put us in a hole, and the other team was able to put more pressure on us than if we would have been up 1-0 heading into singles.”
Doubles Point
On court three, Zach Goldberg and Sahil Deshmuk defeated Rafael Wagner and Eric Samuelsson, 6-2. Jordan Daigle and Justin Butsch pulled together a very convincing 6-3 win on court one against Lasse Mucheites and Yannick Zuern, forcing the doubles point to come down to court three’s results. Julian Saborio and Gabor Csonka fell 6-4 to Jack Findel-Hawkis and Jefta Kecic on court two, and the Ospreys took the 1-0 lead.

LSU pulled within one point of UNF, 3-2, in a very emotionally charged match on court two, and No. 41 Butsch defeated No. 61 Kecic, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.
After taking the first set, 6-4, Wagner was unable to hold on as UNF’s Deshmukh clinched the match with the 4-6, 7-6(4), 7-5 win.
