BATON ROUGE – Head coach D-D Breaux and the LSU women’s gymnastics team remained at No. 2 in the RoadToNationals.com rankings released Monday after its 13th-straight team score of 197 or better Friday night inside the Maravich Center.
The Tigers own a team average of 197.555 and are ranked second for the third-straight week. LSU defeated No. 11 Missouri with a team score of 197.425 for the 24th-straight win in the PMAC. The squad is improved to 5-0 and 4-0 in conference with the victory.
The Sooners remained in the top spot with an average of 197.760. The Gators are in third with an average of 197.430. National rankings are based on a team’s overall season average for the first few weeks of the season before switching to the regional qualifying score (RQS).
LSU ranks second in the nation on both floor and beam with averages of 49.470 and 49.375 respectively. Junior Myia Hambrick ranks ninth and freshman Kennedi Edney ranks 21st on beam. Senior Ashleigh Gnat owns the fifth spot on floor and Edney is 12th.
Gnat ranks No. 1 on vault with an average of 9.940. Edney along with sophomore Lexie Priessman also own spots in the top-25 at No. 20 and No. 24 respectively. The Tigers’ vault lineup ranks No. 2 in the nation with an average event score of 49.390.
LSU dropped to No. 4 on bars with an average score of 49.320. Priessman checks in at No. 10 individually and Edney along with sophomore Sarah Finnegan also share the 15th spot. Freshman Ruby Harrold also is also on the list at No. 24.
LSU returns to the road for another SEC matchup on Friday, February 10 against Arkansas in Fayetteville. The meet will be televised live on the SEC Network. First vault is set for 7:35 p.m. CT with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. The meet will also be streamed live on WatchESPN.com and the app.
