Tipoff Luncheon Set Monday at L’Auberge

BATON ROUGE – Tasmin Mitchell, a member of LSU’s 2006 NCAA Final Four Team, and who will represent LSU this year as its SEC Legend at the conference basketball tourney will be the guest of Coach Johnny Jones Monday (Feb. 6) at the first of two February editions of the Tipoff Luncheon.

The luncheon is held at the L’Auberge Hotel and Casino Baton Rouge. The monthly gatherings for good food and basketball conversations are open to the public and presented by Hub International.

Mitchell, who played at LSU from 2005-10, finished his career third on the all-time LSU scoring list behind Pete Maravich and Rudy Macklin at just under 2,000 points, and he is one of two three players at LSU to score 1,000 points, have 500 or more rebounds (6th all-time), pass 200 assists and get 100 steals.

He was a freshman from Denham Springs on the 2006 NCAA Final Four team that won the Southeastern Conference that year and he captured a second SEC title as a member of the 2009 SEC title team.

The L’Auberge Hotel and Casino Baton Rouge is located off Nicholson Drive in Baton Rouge and the event will be held at the Bon Temps Buffet. The Buffet is available at 11:30 a.m. and the program begins at 12:10 p.m. The all-you-can-eat buffet charge is $14.95 a person. The buffet is located on the ground floor of the hotel in the casino area.

To get to the L’Auberge Hotel and Casino Baton Rouge from the LSU area, follow LA-30 N. /Nicholson Drive. Turn Left onto L’Auberge Crossing Drive and follow the signs to L’Auberge Baton Rouge.

There will also be a luncheon scheduled on Feb. 28.
