BATON ROUGE – There are many exciting and new items fans should be aware of before making their way to the Maravich Center or watching from home when the second-ranked LSU gymnastics team takes on ninth-ranked Georgia Friday night.
The opening meet of the season begins will be broadcast live on the SEC Network for those fans who cannot make it to the PMAC. The meet is scheduled for a 6:25 p.m. CT first vault with Bart Conner, Kathy Johnson Clarke and Holly Rowe on the call.
The network will carry all of the pre-meet activities beginning with both team introductions at 6 p.m. CT. The network will also carry the Super Six banner drop along with a special presentation for head coach D-D Breaux‘s 700th win and start of her 40th season.
Friday’s matchup between LSU and Georgia is the lone meet featured on “Friday Night Heights” this week. It will fill a two-hour window that will feature the pre-meet activities and a preview for the 2017 season.
The Tigers are slated for a record 11 meets either streamed online or televised live. The network will feature the most live meets ever slated for television in the 2017 season, with 18 meets scheduled. In addition, SEC Network’s “Friday Night Heights” gymnastics series expands to eight consecutive weeks of high-flying competition from across the conference.
ESPNU and SEC Network close out the season with the 2017 SEC Gymnastics Championship on Saturday, March 18. The championship will be carried live for the second year.
