Getting to Know: Michal Cunningham

In the last of a series getting to know the LSU softball freshman class, we learn a little bit more about Michal Cunningham

1.       Why did you choose LSU?

I chose LSU because everyone was so polite and welcoming when I first came on campus. It was so beautiful and such a different culture. I knew I wanted to experience and be a part of it. I also just had this feeling in my gut that this was the place I wanted to call home for the next four years. Plus, no other university can compare to the facilities and athletic program we have here at LSU.

2.       What do you like most about LSU?

What I like most about LSU is how dedicated and supportive our fan base is. Even our alumni still have “Forever LSU” written on their heart. No matter what sport or who we are playing, everyone is cheering you on to beat the other team. You better believe everyone is screaming “tiger bait” at the top of their lungs at the other team too on game days. Everyone literally bleeds purple and gold here, and it is never taken lightly.

3.       What is your favorite part about being an athlete at LSU/on the LSU Softball team?

My favorite part about being an athlete at LSU is receiving so much support from our fans across the nation. I love how LSU supplies us with fueling station so we’re always fueled for practice and workouts. The workout facilities are great.

4.       What are your favorite hobbies outside of softball?

My favorite hobbies outside of softball include fishing, hunting and driving back roads listening to country music.

5.        What does “ALL for LSU” mean to you?

ALL for LSU means putting the University and community before yourself no matter what. Whenever I first got here, I quickly learned that. The second day I stepped on campus, our whole team and coaches made it our duty to help the flood victims in any possible that we could. I’m so thankful I could help those families in their time of need because it truly opened my eyes to never take anything for granted and that we were all put on earth to make a difference and help others when they need a hand.
