BATON ROUGE, La. – The 2017 SEC television and streaming slate was released for the LSU softball team as the Tigers will be featured nationally nine times, with 23 home games scheduled to be streamed online through SEC Network+.
Games will be featured throughout the season on the ESPN family of networks, with more than 50 games scheduled for the SEC Network alone. More than 70 games featuring SEC teams in all will be televised nationally throughout the 2017 regular season.
Going into the season, 32 of LSU’s 56 total season games will be televised on a network or streamed online for fans to watch throughout the year.
The national slate for the Tigers opens up with the very first SEC series of the season pitting powers LSU and Auburn March 11-12, with game two getting primetime coverage at 7:30 p.m. and the series finale at 4 p.m. the next day both on the SEC Network.
Games two and three of the rivalry between the Tigers and Crimson Tide were picked up April 8-9 in Tuscaloosa, with Saturday’s game also set for primetime at 8 p.m. on the SEC Network. The finale will be shown on ESPN2 beginning at 2 p.m.
LSU’s first home televised game will come against the Tennessee Volunteers April 23 at 1 p.m. The very next week two of the team’s games against the Missouri Tigers will be picked up by ESPN2, including game two of the series at 7 p.m. and the finale on Sunday at 2 p.m.
All three games the final weekend of the season when the Tigers take on South Carolina will be televised, beginning with the opener being a part of the SEC Network’s second-annual Bases Loaded coverage featuring the best moments from seven games on May 5. Game two against the Gamecocks will be on the network at 5 p.m. and the finale on Sunday set for 11 a.m.
Online, each of LSU’s five games in the Tiger Classic the opening weekend of the season will be streamed online, picking back up with the LSU Invitational in March with all six games of the tournament for the Tigers getting streamed.
Home nonconference games against Louisiana Tech February 15, Nicholls March 21 and South Alabama April 25 will also be picked up on SEC Network+.
For the third year, SEC Network is slated to air every first round and second round game in the SEC Softball Championship May 10 and 11. SEC Network’s on-site studio plans for the tournament will be announced closer to the event’s date. The semifinals will air on ESPNU on May 12 and the championship on ESPN on May 13.
Any games picked up or moved from streaming to a television network will be announced closer to the date of the contest.
Talk 107.3 FM returns as the home of LSU softball on the radio, with the network’s 30-game regular season coverage beginning with the season opener against Oklahoma State on February 10. The station will then pick up every game of LSU’s postseason run.
