In the third of a series getting to know the LSU softball freshman class, we learn a little bit more about Nicky Dawson
1. Why did you choose LSU?
I chose LSU because it is my home away from my home (literally – LSU is in my backyard). The facilities are amazing. We have a live tiger on campus. The Engineering program is also really successful, and when I can be great academically as well as athletically, why not LSU?
2. What do you like most about LSU?
I love the overall atmosphere. I love the weather (except for the rain). I enjoy walking to class seeing different people every single day. You can see Mike whenever you want, and you can walk by Tiger Stadium all of the time.
3. What is your favorite part about being an athlete at LSU/on the LSU Softball team?
I love this team, from the coaches to managers to players. I feel comfortable, and I feel like myself. They make me laugh and happy every day, and I wouldn’t want to be a part of any other team. I feel like we have each other’s backs. Our relationships are deeper than just on the field as teammates which is why I love this team.
4. What are your favorite hobbies outside of softball?
I love to cook in my spare time. I’m not necessarily the greatest chef, but I try. I also love to sleep. It relaxes me, and it’s quiet which I love. I also enjoy music. I want to try to play new instruments, and I like listening to music to see how things are done/played.
5. What does “ALL for LSU” mean to you?
To me, “ALL for LSU” means doing EVERYTHING for LSU. You wake up for it; work for it; breathe for it; die for it. Everything we do gives back to LSU. When we play, we give it all because it’s not for ourselves but for the name on the front of our jerseys. This game and our actions represent something greater than ourselves.
