PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Ryann Foster‘s incredible run through the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships came to a halt Tuesday after a qualifying round of 64 loss to Emma Davis of Wake Forest.
Davis, ranked No. 76 in the ITA preseason rankings, took the opening set against Foster 6-4, before Foster fought back and won the second set 6-2. Davis ultimately came out on top in the third set, 7-5.
After the round of 64 loss, Foster entered the singles qualifying backdraw bracket where she defeated No. 35 Sadie Hammond of Tennessee. Foster dropped the first set 6-2 before overwhelming Hammond in the next two sets, winning 6-2, 6-1.
Foster will take on No. 68 Anna Sanford of Ohio State in the singles consolation round of 16 Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. CT.
